First edition, later reissue of the Webster issue (first being 1885), using the original first edition sheets, purchased after James R. Osgood went bankrupt, and a cancel title-leaf; text corrected (second state). Octavo (8.25 x 6.5 inches; 210 x 165 mm.). [2, blank], 411, [1, blank], [3, ads], [3, blank] pages. Full page and in-text illustrations throughout. Publisher's dark green cloth, spine and front board stamped in gilt and black; all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers. Very shallow twist to the spine; spine ends a little worn with some fraying; corners softly bumped and worn. Some faint, mild soiling to the page edges and margins; last quarter of the text block with very mild creasing to the top corner; very faint tidemark to the front endpapers; bookplate. Very good.
