Buonaventura Genelli. Aus dem Leben eines Künstlers. Leipzig: Alphons Dürr, 1868. First edition. Elephant folio (22 x 30 inches; 560 x 765 mm.). 24 copper-engraved prints, tissue-guards (a couple missing) with an additional letterpress title-leaf (same size) and a small bifolium with plate listing and introduction by Dr. Max Jordan. Unbound and laid into the publisher's portfolio; dark reddish brown cloth with letterpress brown paper label on the front board, rear board half-cloth; plain pastedowns; linen-lined flaps (one missing, one detached). Some prints lightly foxed or with faint marginal tidemarks (worst of it on the title-leaf); one short edge (right side of landscape images) slightly brittle with a few short closed tears; edges very slightly cockled. Bifolium creased in the margins with some minor dampstaining. Portfolio tattered, both short flaps (top and bottom edges) detached with one missing, fore-edge flap barely handing on; paper label scuffed and scratched with minimal paper loss on the edges; cloth worn at the edges, with boards partially exposed; joints cracked. Bright, very good prints in a fair portfolio. An impressive neoclassical work.
