Octavo (8.875 x 5.75 inches; 225 x 145 mm.). [2, inserted title-leaf], [3]-712 pages. Frontispiece inserted with numerous full-page and in-text illustrations throughout. Publisher's blue cloth, spine lettered and elaborately stamped in gilt, front board stamped in gilt with a pictorial paper onlay; all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers, flyleaves. Spine just barely leaning; spine gilt very lightly worn toward the crown with a few small soil spots; joints and edges lightly rubbed; corners bumped. Light staining to the page edges; front hinge nearly cracked, but still holding; faint offsetting to the endpapers; occasional mild over-opening. Very good. BAL 3451. (#10116).
