Frontispiece portrait affixed to the verso of the half-title, another affixed portrait on page [57] and eight plates, with two gravure illustrations each, inserted throughout and included in the pagination. Publisher's binding in the original wrappers, printed in brownish-red and black; text block edges untrimmed; no endpapers. Spine leaning very gently; backtrip and margins faintly tanned; trivial wear to the joints and edges; small bruise on the rear wrapper; few instances of faint soiling. Slightly over-opened at the hinges. Near fine. Text in French, English, Spanish and German. Epstein's first film, a fictionalized documentary about Louis Pasteur on the occasion of his 100th birthday. Jean Epstein studied medicine at the University of Lyon before making the transition to filmmaking. We could find just a single record listed in WorldCat, the copy in the Kuhn Library at UMBC, but there's another copy (or three?) at the Cinémathèque française in Paris. Not in Viejo. (#10058).
