[Mark Twain]. Holker Abbot (compiler). Bear with Us. A Collection of Tavern Club Verses. [Cambridge: The Riverside Press, 1905]. First edition. Octavo (8 x 5 inches; 205 x 125 mm.). [2, blank], iv, [2, note (verso blank)], 57, [1, printer imprint], [2, blank] pages. Publisher's brown cloth over dark gray paper-covered boards, printed paper label affixed to the spine; page edges untrimmed; plain endpapers. Backstrip and spine label darkened; spine ends slightly pushed and little worn; corners softly bumped; boards very lightly rubbed. Endpapers faintly discolored in the hinges from the binding glue; a couple minor spot stains in the gutter margin of the preliminaries; two previous owner signatures on the front free endpaper, both in pencil. Very good. Contains "Verses at Dinner to Mark Twain" by M. A. DeWolfe Howe, recited at a 1901 dinner given in Twain's honor. Also includes a contribution by Owen Wister. (#10200).
