[2], x, 424; vi, 472, [2, blank] pages. Frontispiece in each volume. Publisher's dark blue cloth, spines lettered and ruled in gilt, front boards ruled in blind; top and bottom edges of the text blocks trimmed, fore-edges untrimmed; plain endpapers. Backstrips faded just a shade with a mild superficial scuff; covers lightly soiled with some very faint spotty discoloration; spine ends and corners tapped with a hint of wear. Endpapers with a hint of foxing and a minor vertical crease to the front free endpaper of the first volume. Very good. Prints two letters from Twain on pages 274-275 with additional quotes and anecdotes. (#10232).
