Publisher's light bluish-green cloth, spine and front board lettered and ruled in gilt; top edge of the text block gilt, others untrimmed; plain endpapers. In the original dust jacket, printed in green. Spine gently leaning; rear board very slightly bowed; spine ends softly pushed; spine ends and corners very lightly worn; tiny bump to the top edge of the rear board. Very faint discoloration to the endpapers with a tiny crimp in the rear hinge. Dust jacket backstrip faintly darkened; folds a little worn with some chipping to edges; a few minor nicks and closed tears; some trivial soiling. A near fine copy in a very good jacket. A short Mark Twain quote used in the jacket blurb on the front panel: "The two most interesting characters of the nineteenth century are Napoleon and Helen Keller." (#10228).
