Quarto (9.125 x 7 inches; 230 x 180 mm.). [2, blank], xiii, [1, blank], [2, fly-title leaf], 32, [6, blank] pages. Four unpaginated leaves with tipped-in full-color illustrations, including the frontispiece, by Howard Pyle; marginal decorations by Wilfred J. Jones. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front board ruled in gilt with "The Triumphal Entry into Rheims" illustration affixed in the central panel; top edge of the text block gilt, others untrimmed; illustrated endpapers; in the original dust jacket. Front board very slightly splayed; spine gilt and extremities with a just touch of wear. Front endpapers faintly tanned; very faint offsetting from marginal decorations throughout; bottom corner of the frontispiece creased; contemporary ownership signature in blue ink on the front free endpaper. Dust jacket with a faint damp stain along the spine extending onto the front panel and another along the front flap fold; light chipping to the spine ends and fold edges, short closed tear extending from the crown affecting a few printed letters; tiny pinprick hole along the rear panel fold; folds lightly creased.
