S. edition, Webster issue, using the original sheets, purchased after James R. Osgood went bankrupt, and a cancel title-leaf; text corrected (second state). Octavo (8.25 x 6.5 inches; 210 x 165 mm.). [2, blank], 411, [3, blank] pages. Full page and in-text illustrations throughout. Publisher's dark green cloth, spine and front board stamped in gilt and black; all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers. Spine ends worn with a sliver of cloth missing at each end; edges and joints very lightly worn; corners bumped and worn; covers lightly rubbed, particularly on the rear board. Text block sagging just a little; front hinge cracked but still holding firm, rear hinge mended; very shallow ripple in the top of corner of the text block; some occasional trivial soiling.
