Federico García Lorca. III [Three] Tragedies of Federico García Lorca. Blood Wedding, Yerma, Bernarda Alba. [New York]: New Directions, [1947]. First U. S. edition. Octavo (8 x 5.375 inches; 202 x 135 mm.). [6], 378 pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt; top edge of the text block stained black, others trimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket, priced $3.75. Front board very slightly splayed; crown softly pushed; top corner of the front board barely bent; extremities very lightly rubbed. Top stain very faintly faded with a singly tiny splash; some trivial wear along the fore-edge of the last few leaves; endpapers lightly tanned. Dust jacket edges worn with some shallow chipping (all less than one-half of one inch) to the crown and adjacent panels (not affecting any text); two interior holes on the rear flap fold; spine panel faintly dulled. Very good. Translated by Richard L. O'Connell and James Graham-Luján with an introduction by Francisco García Lorca. Each drama adapted for the screen (on multiple occasions). Blood Wedding was the source for the first entry in Carlos Saura's Flamenco Trilogy, released in 1981. (#10048).
