Illustrated frontispieces, with tissue guards printed in red, inserted in each volume. Publisher's dark blue ribbed cloth, spines lettered in gilt, front boards ruled in blind with Twain's facsimile signature stamped in gilt; top edges of the text block gilt, others rough trimmed; plain endpapers. Spine ends and corners barely pushed with a touch of wear; small bump to the upper edge of the front board of the second volume. Neat contemporary gift inscription on the front free endpaper of the first volume. Nearly fine. BAL 3537. (#10140).
