Torquato Tasso. Aminta. Favola Bocareccia. London [i.e. Leghorn]: Gio. Tom. Masi, 1780. Masi edition. Twelvemo (5.875 x 3.375 inches; 150 x 85 mm.). 261, [3, blank] pages. Engraved title-page and five additional plates, lacking the frontispiece. Contemporary mottled calf, gilt-stamped spine with red leather label lettered in gilt, board edges tooled in gilt; all edges of the text block marbled; marbled endpapers, front flyleaf. Joints cracked but holding; bottom compartment of the spine mostly eroded with a sheen coated on to preserve the remains, still seemingly structurally sound; spine ends and corners worn; bottom corners bumped. Text tanned near the inserted plates, some intermittent foxing throughout; occasional minor over-opening; front hinge cracked with an interior tear to the front free endpaper. Still, very good. Originally published in 1573. Though not marked in any way, from the collection of William B. Todd. ESTC T133609 ("The imprint is false; probably printed in Leghorn"). (#10322).
