Recent dark green quarter leather over marbled paper covered boards, spine in six panels with five raised bands and lettered in gilt; page edges trimmed; plain green laid paper endpapers, double flyleaves. Spine slightly leaning. Text slightly shaken, some leaves splitting in the gutter margin (prominent in the preliminaries); text tanned and somewhat brittle, a few leaves chipped at the corners or fore-edge margin; old rubber stamp on the title-page since effaced and illegible. Very good. First year of a long-running annual publication. Features a horse named Mark Twain, bred by Charles S. Dole in Crystal Lake, IL, on page 224. (#10178).
