Vallée des fantômes
[Fred Allen (director); Harry Joe Brown (associate producer)]. Tom Keene, Myrna Kennedy (actors). La vallée des fantômes. [Ghost Valley]. Paris: RKO Pathé Pictures (production); Les etablissements Jacques Haïk (distribution), 1934. Original french-release poster. Grande affiche (63 x 47 inches; 1600 x 1195 mm.). Single sheet, restored and linen backed. Closed tears laid down, including a sizable one around (and partially through) Kennedy, another in the upper margin, just barely entering the artwork; short slice, about an inch long, in the right-hand margin (not affecting the image area), from when the linen was trimmed, the shape of which suggests maybe some of the margin was shaved as well; artwork touched up along the folds, some other folds with more routine discoloration; light rubbing and soiling, notations very faintly visible in the black silhouette. Very good.
A B quickie produced by Harry Joe Brown, who would later perfect the art of producing economical westerns through his partnership with Randolph Scott, Scott-Brown Productions, specifically in their five-film Ranown cycle, each directed by Budd Boetticher. Airs on TCM on October 14; we'll see if it's any good. (#10062).
