Roberto Rossellini (director); Ingrid Bergman (actor). Stromboli. [Los Angeles]: RKO Radio Pictures, 1950. Original poster for the U. S. release. Half sheet (21.875 x 27.875 inches; 506 x 710 mm.). Single sheet, rolled. Edges somewhat worn with a handful of short closed tears, none affecting the image area (beyond some associate creasing); margins a little soiled; two soft vertical creases through the middle of the image area; a few minor wrinkles throughout; corners creased; image area very lightly rubbed; verso rubbed and slightly soiled with a couple notations in pencil ("Return to Baltimore" twice) and in heavy black crayon (a large "x" and the poster's NSS number). Very good and completely unrestored. In 1948, after seeing Open City and Paisan, Ingrid Bergman wrote a letter to Roberto Rossellini saying she enjoyed his work and that she was "ready to come and make a film with [him]" (Ingrid Bergman, My Story, New York: . p. 4). Stromboli was their first collaboration. They went on to make four more movies and three human beings together. (#10014).
