Original lithographic trade card for Welcome Soap brand household soap products, printed by Donaldson Brothers in Five Points, New York. Trade card (2.625 x 4.25 inches; 75 x 110 mm.). Lithographic illustration on the recto, verso blank. General light soiling with a few trivial splotches; top and left edge with some dark discoloration; corners barely softened. Verso with the sheen and faint discoloration of old adhesive residue, but no apparent bruising. Very good. "Charlotte Perkins Gilman attempted to support herself for a while in the early 1880s, when, with her cousin Robert Brown, she designed trade cards for several soap companies, including Curtis Davis and Company and the Kendall Manufacturing Company, producers of Soapine.
